Book nook in the tower

In the deep winter, with a blanket of snow covering the land, who doesn’t dream of sitting on a window bench. Reading a good book. A warm drink beside you. Watching the blue cold reflected in the white of the winter.

Well, romantic thoughts aside, gotta build that romantic book nook with a window seat first. It’s a perfect garage project in the winter.

It should look like something like this at the end:


But at the moment, the south tower looks more like this:


Getting there is relatively easy: pre-cut pine boards are readily available in various sizes from Bauhaus: 16 shelf boards of about 80 cm, 4 boards of 240 cm, few 14mm indoor panels for the backs, 4 slim covering boards for the sides and a bunch of screws. That’s all one needs for the two book shelf left and right from the window. It takes few hours to put them together. It takes almost twice as long to paint them however…

Well, while it’s snowing, there is plenty of time…
