The fireplace is here!

October 17, 2011

As you may recall, about a month ago I told that we had ordered the fireplace. As you can see from below the materials have now been delivered. Well, the heavy ones, the brick layer will bring more once the work starts.

It’s always exciting to see how delivery of goods works out. In this case the transport company tried to call me from an unlisted number (i.e. I did not see the number at all) once. One time!!! Unfortunately I missed that call. Did they try to call again? Or leave a message? Or send a text? A reasonable person would, but they did not.

Only when I contacted the shop we bought the fireplace from, asking why there’s been no delivery even though goods had left factory 4 days earlier, did something start happening. Unfortunately, or luckily, I did not have to handle these calls, but the sales guy did tha for us. The end result was that the fireplace parts were delivered to the lot and even placed close to the main entrance, as requested. The driver also called me from a known number 5 minutes before dropping the stuff off to let me know that it was being delivered. Very considerate 🙂

Now of course the next big step is carrying in the parts and starting building the fireplace. It’s supposed to be ready by the end of October, but let’s see when it happens. It seems surprisingly difficult to agree on which day the work starts. I’ll fill you in on that story once we have the fireplace ready…

Sounds very familiar. It seems that the delivery never works as the sales guy is telling it will. We had some major problems in getting our fireplace delivered last year, spend some days or almost a week also looking for it.
