Two doors and more

Little progress on many fronts…

I installed the two doors for the tower rooms in an attempt to get the living room closed off for the time when the fireplace is installed. Installing doors is actually a job where another set of hands would be helpful, it works as well as a one-man-show.

I spent the whole Saturday with attaching the ceiling structure of one third of the living room. I had to remove first some beams that the assembly crew left in place which they nailed into place temporarily before the roof boards were attached. After that I installed the wind-proofing boards and on top of that the plastic foil that keeps the humidity separated from the cold place. And finally some more boards on top of that.

One of the not so fun jobs was to cut the last log to match the slope of the other beams. While it’s easy to get a clean cut with the circular saw, it does only cut 5 cm deep. The logs are 20cm wide. Hence, the good old saw had to come to rescue.
