1100 kg of floor boards

March 31, 2011

It was time to pick up the floor boards for the ground level of Villa Linnea. We transported some 1.1 tons of floor material from our local K-Rauta to our garage at home. The floor boards are massive planks (UPM Wisa Pro) of 28mm strength ready stained white and lacquered. This version is not in the usual selection from Wisa Pro. For example, our local home deport market at the countryside could not order these. Well, it is much easier to skip the whole on-site sanding, staining and lacquering exercise and it is even cheaper I really don’t know why one would do it any other way (I’ll probably regret saying this one day who knows?!).

Now one needs to add some 20 m3 of insulation material, some 700 meters of heating cable, some few hundreds screws, some random electricity cables and plumbing to the mixture and ready is the floor. Well, it will take at least a months before the floor boards will see any action…

Are you going to get floor heating under these wooden planks or what will it be the heating system?

Hi Cip, we’ll put DeviKit floor heating cables underneath these wooden planks. The 10W version works for massive wooden floors and doesn’t cause any water damage in case the heating fails one day.
